How to turn a 3D model into a stained-glass pattern

Vitrifier converts a three-dimensional surface into a practical set of glass pieces without hiding the model, panel target, material settings, or final exports from you.

1. Import and inspect the source

Open an STL, OBJ, GLB, or GLTF model and rotate the inspection preview. Confirm the overall form, intended finished height, and whether the surface contains details that would create very small pieces.

2. Choose a realistic panel target

The panel target is the desired final glass-piece count. A smaller target simplifies cutting and assembly; a larger target can preserve more recognizable detail. Vitrifier reports the closest constructible result when the exact target is not compatible with the source geometry.

3. Vitrify the surface

Select a panel style, tune feature preservation and seam order, and run Vitrify. Review the numbered surface and fabrication warnings before finalizing the glass pieces.

4. Enter real material dimensions

Set glass thickness, copper-foil width, sheet dimensions, and the print bed used for removable fixtures. These values influence edge preparation, sheet layout, and jig generation.

5. Export the build pack

The downloadable project can include full-scale piece patterns, pane-layout files, a cut sequence, an assembly guide, and printable jig sections when the finalized geometry supports them. Inspect every output before cutting glass or printing fixtures.
